Our dances are all "TARANTELLE" which are typical traditional dances of
our land. Each tarantella is preceded by a song.
TARANTELLA DU’ MUCCATURI:
It is a typical dance of the '800, very quick and cheerful. It
can ne distinguished by
an handkerchief (called muccaturi) that comes waved by the men. In this tarantella
comes put in emphasis the sound du' friscalettu' (Whistle- typical Sicilian breath
instrument).
TARANTELLA D’AMURI:
A jumping dance danced by couples which gives expression to their cheerful and joy.
TARANTELLA A’ NICUSIANA:
"The dance of the nail": a particular step dance.
It's an animated dance with
different figure and particular steps (female heel and toe and male jolla). Cheerful,
lively and quick music.
"LA CONTRADDANZA":
A typical sicilian dance, based on a rhythmic French step taking place during the
town feasts and mainly during weddings feasts. It is a commanded dance, where the
participants execute some figuration on command. In this dance the public is also
invited.
TARANTELLA FESTA ALL’AIA:
It is a dance that was danced after a day of work to relax.
TARANTELLA CAMPAGNOLA:
cheerful and simple tarantella danced during the pause of work in the fields.
TARANTELLA TRASI E NESCI:
It is our entrance tarantella at each performance. All couples are formed and lined
up to perform a cheerful and lively "typical and particular march". In
this dance there are many figures and passages. It ends with the lined up choir
of all the couples to give a start to our traditional songs.
TARANTELLA CANTI DEL MARE:
It was danced for celebrating the return of the fishermen after a long far away.
TARANTELLA DA’ MIETITURA:
tarantella executed during the singing to represent the harvest work.
TARANTELLA PICCIOTTISCA:
quick tarantella expressing moments of cheerful and performed during particular
events.
BALLO DELLE CORDE (dance of the ropes):
Particular dance executed by women with some fisherman ropes while waiting the return
of their men from the sea.
